I am a Senior Systems Engineer at Innovative Defense Technologies, where we build automated test and evaluation solutions for the DoD. I build SysML models of things that have to work — missiles, bomb fuzes, satellites, ground vehicles. I have spent a long time learning which modeling habits make a program move faster, and how much these tools can do once you know where to push.
MBSE iNsights started as a YouTube channel because the tooling documentation answers what the button does and almost never answers why you would press it. The tooling is genuinely powerful, and SysML v2 opens up things that were not practical before — executable models, real traceability, a model you can query. Most of what an engineer needs in order to get at that lives in the gap between the specification and the practice. That gap is what I make videos about, and now what I write about here.
I am a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a commercial pilot. Both of those shape how I think about systems engineering more than any methodology course did: aviation takes verification seriously because the alternative is unacceptable, and that instinct — how would anyone actually know this is true? — is the one I keep coming back to in models.

In March 2026 I released MBSE, twelve tracks about model-based systems engineering. It is on every streaming service. I am aware of how that sounds.
